Project HOPE is making a difference!
Project HOPE staffs, Matt Peterson and Doug Lane, were working with a hospital in Port-au-Prince to better understand and address their medical needs. Matt went outside of the hospital and to evaluate the surrounding area where burning trash surrounding the area. Matt noticed a man outside in need of aid. His leg was broken, cut and heavily infected and he also suffered from head trauma. Matt, Doug and a driver quickly found something that could be used as a stretcher and brought the man inside of the hospital. “When we put him down, he was repeating hallelujah, hallelujah,” Doug said. “When we left he was receiving aid from the very professional British team of doctors.”
Over £1.5 million of medical supplies donated to HOPE have been shipped from a secure warehouse operated by long-time HOPE partner Order of Malta in Santo Domingo. The medical supplies, such as bandages, braces, wraps and pain relief medicine, were shipped to hospitals and clinics in the border town of Jimani where several thousand Haitian refugees have fled for relief.
