Project HOPE UK is part of the international Project HOPE network working in partnership with local communities to find lasting health solutions for some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people world-wide.  

Some of the programmes that we have developed are:  

• Village Health Bank programme - An innovative programme that integrates health education with income generation as a way to improve the health and quality of life among vulnerable women.

• Change for Children programme - Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre in China provided Oncology Palliative Care training for up to 4,000 children’s care providers (in the first year) who have been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

• Paediatric and Adolescent Health programme - Working with local partners in the Nagan Raya & Aceh Barat Districts of Indonesia to re-establish and improve the health programmes for infants and children.   PH/UK also strengthened the paediatric care by procuring and installing equipment for obstetrics and neo-natal intensive care units in four hospitals.

• Russia’s Children and Total Well-being programme - 13 years ago the programme started with medical training and supplies at the Children’s Burn Hospital No 9.  Then the programme addressed Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS by working in partnership with the schools and the health systems to introduce a new way of teaching about the consequences for their choices.  The programme has expanded across 13 regions in the Russian Federation.   PH/UK has started working in Russia to increase the health & wellness of orphaned and other vulnerable children.

Currently Project HOPE UK is working on a community enrichment programme, The Munsieville Model, which will focus on the care of orphans and other vulnerable children worldwide.  Project HOPE UK will bring together the Community Based Organisations (CBO) to implement the 7 areas of excellence: Early Childhood Development, After School Club, Vocational Training for Teenagers, Community Strengthening Initiative, Community Sports Programme, Child Rights and Protection Unit, CBO Partner Capacity Building.
